The White Horse Bookshop in Marlborough runs a wide variety of creative art courses.

I tutor full day workshops and hope to see you there.

FRIDAY 15th JANUARY - ‘Bustling Market Scenes in Watercolour’

Markets make colourful, atmospheric subjects, but it’s adding the figures that many find daunting.

Paul will discuss his techniques for sketching and painting figures in watercolour and how to plan

and add them to create a bustling market scene.

TUESDAY 9th FEBRUARY - ‘Mixing Greens for Trees, Foliage and Distance in Watercolour’

Green is a colour that many students find a struggle when painting landscapes. Paul will guide you

through a variety of mixes and techniques for creating effective foregrounds, fields, foliage and

distance in your paintings.

WEDNESDAY 10th MARCH - ‘From Sketchbook to Watercolour ’

On this course, Paul will guide you through the process of gathering sketchbook reference material

outside and using it to produce a creative watercolour back in the studio. Some sketching experience

will be useful, as well as being comfortable with a shoer walk to the local park and river.

MONDAY 29th MARCH - ‘Expressive Flowers in Watercolour’

Flowers provide excellent subjects to practice painting from observation. With advice on sketching

and capturing light, form and proportion, Paul will demonstrate and encourage a loose, free,

expressive approach.
